Practical Digital Empowerment Workshops for Seniors

Project Overview

Practical Digital Empowerment Workshops for Seniors is a community project led by students from the Youth STEAM Initiative that helps seniors in Lexington build the skills and confidence to use technology and AI tools in their daily lives. Supported by a grant from the Dana Home Foundation, students are working alongside advisors and experts, such as professional photographer Xiongwei Li, to offer hands-on workshops that make digital tools more accessible. Through practical guidance and personalized support, the project aims to help seniors stay connected, navigate everyday tasks, and become more independent technology users.

The project's first workshop, “Better Photos with Your Smartphone: A Hands-On Photography & AI Workshop for Older Adults,” will be led by Xiongwei Li along with YSI members on October 17, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Cary Memorial Library in Lexington, MA. Additional workshops are currently being planned to help seniors explore more ways to use technology in their daily lives.
