The Lunar Arts Website Restoration Project aims to help the New Moon nonprofit refine and transform their website. The organization was founded to promote music, art, and generally enhance Chinese-American culture. Through establishing this website, we hope to create a platform which promotes the talent of artists and forms a bridge for collaborations between Chinese and American artists. The website will announce New Moon’s events such as their annual music festival, allow artists/musicians to upload and comment on art-related posts, and aid them in accomplishing both present and future goals.
Our team first met with the leader of New Moon several times to
discuss their general hopes and goals for the website. After
contemplation, we decided to utilize WordPress for the website.
The WordPress plugins and themes allowed our members to
implement their complex requests easier. The team had to balance
consistently communicating to receive New Moon’s approval while
making decisions based on prior experience. Communication within
the team was also important, and the leaders of the team were
able to distribute tasks and use their previous knowledge to
guide the team forward.
The project is ongoing, and the website is currently
still under development. The website currently includes the
features of registration information for the concerts,
workshops, and cultural events hosted by New Moon International,
introductory information about the organization and its mission,
and a gallery showcasing its numerous works and contributions
towards the community of Greater Boston.
The Lunar Arts website will help experienced artists share their
craft and allow aspiring students to learn and improve their
skills. The website is an online community allowing those
passionate about culture to unite and create. It also allows
others interested in joining an artistic community a chance to
learn more about New Moon, their events, and goals. An
organization built on community interactions is able to expand
and educate to an advanced degree with the help of a website.
