The LexLux Animated Projection Mapping project was a key feature
of the LexLux illumination activity (2025) in the town of
Lexington. In collaboration with the Munroe Center for the Arts
and the Lexington Lyceum Advocates (LLA), the Youth STEAM
Initiative team created two unique projection mapping
installations that seamlessly blended creativity, technology,
and historical storytelling.
The first installation, at the Lexington Historical Society
building, featured a striking display of dynamic patterns led by
six galloping horses, symbolizing the Riding Through History
theme of the town’s Lex 250 celebrations. This visually
captivating tribute honored Lexington’s rich past while engaging
the community in an innovative and immersive way.
The second stage, at the Ellen Stone Building, explored
projection mapping as a storytelling medium, bringing to life
the history and people connected to the site. Using AI-assisted
design, digital art, and cutting-edge projection techniques, the
installation transformed the building’s façade into a vibrant
narrative canvas.
This interdisciplinary project showcased the powerful fusion of
art and technology, demonstrating how innovation can reimagine
public spaces. More than just a visual spectacle, the
installation fostered a sense of community, sparking curiosity,
conversation, and a deeper appreciation for Lexington’s cultural
heritage.
